Position Summary


The Vice President/President of Construction is responsible for facilitating and overseeing the construction process from inception to final design and budget, through the process of contract negotiation, construction operation, and through owner’s acceptance for all projects.

Primary Responsibilities


  • Acts as a liaison between the division associates, corporate support services, development and management groups in all divisions
  • Interviews, hires, trains, and supervises construction team
  • Oversees the preparation and negotiation of all construction contracts for projects
  • Monitors the pricing analysis for all project extras
  • Reviews and approves the monthly progress and status reports
  • Monitors the RFI, change order, submittal, and buy-out logs for all of the division’s construction projects
  • Approves all final bank draws
  • Monitors schedule compliance for all projects within the division
  • Provides feedback to construction management team
  • Oversees the construction group’s overall budget from D.O.E. (Divisional Operating Equity) to individual project hard cost
  • Creates, improves, and implements all division policies and procedures to ensure compliance with company standards
  • Facilitates and oversee all estimating procedures
  • Evaluates all construction group associates’ needs to ensure maximum productivity at a most efficient cost
  • Sets one year, three year, and five year goals for the construction group and creates a plan to implement strategy
  • Provides mentorship and leadership for all Associates with their personal and professional goals
  • Complies with all Company National Standards, applicable health and safety rules and regulations, as well as applicable local, state and federal laws

Desired Skills & Experience


  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management or related field required. General Contractor’s licenses required
  • 15+ years of relevant experience required in in field construction administration and/or estimating is required
  • 10+ years of managerial experience is required
  • Knowledge of construction procedures, building codes, estimating and scheduling practices
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel
  • Ability to comprehend financial statements and budgets
  • Must be a strategic visionary with sound technical skills, analytical ability, good judgment, and strong operational focus
  • Must be energetic, forward-thinking and creative with high ethical standards
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
  • Some travel may be required
